Samsung Galaxy S III to be sold in Mobile Pin pop-up stores

Image

At the very tail end of its Galaxy S III event, Samsung promised one more surprise -- and what it gave us was a special retail strategy. The company will be opening Mobile Pin locations, or glass-housed pop-up stores, to help showcase its new flagship phone. Those at the event got to look at examples of the stores first-hand. Everyone else will get a look in the near future, with Mobile Pins appearing at least within London. We've got a gallery below to explore the locations in more detail.

Insert Coin: Genie turns any camera into a world-class time lapse rig

In Insert Coin, we look at an exciting new tech project that requires funding before it can hit production. If you'd like to pitch a project, please send us a tip with "Insert Coin" as the subject line.

New Zealand-based designer Chris Thomson and filmmaker Ben Ryan found that motion-control time lapse gear too expensive, too complicated and too bulky. So they set about building the Genie, a box that moves your camera around under its own power. Designed to be cheap(er than the competition) and user-friendly, the device will let you choose from a variety of presets or build your own to turn and position the camera. It will also draw itself along a guide rope, either on a dolly track or cable-cam for stunning landscape photography. It's reached $42,542 of its $150,000 goal and if successful, each unit will cost $1,000.

Mitt Who? New Obama Ad Touts Accomplishments of First Term

If political pundits think President Obama's only strategy to win a second term would be to carpet bomb Mitt Romney with negative ads, he didn't get the memo.

Romney has but one brief, silent cameo in the Obama campaign's new seven-minute ad, touting the controversial administration's record over the past three years.

The ad does go out of its way to portray Republican leaders, in general, as obstructionist extremists who would rather play political games than help Americans.

For the most part, though, the ad, entitled "Forward," hits home the fact that Obama inherited "once-in-a-century type" recession and still accomplished a ton.

Pure spin? Pure facts? In between? Take a look at it below and see:
